Description

  • Monitor risk-management procedures, and use problem logs to identify and report recurring issues to management and product development teams

Perform validation and acceptance testing of electrical control panels in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. Working knowledge of electrical control panels and wiring is required. Troubleshooting and repair of defects is required. Occasional travel to customer locations including overnight stays will occur.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Programming:

    • Develop control programs using Allen-Bradley PLCs (e.g., ControlLogix, CompactLogix) and associated software (e.g., RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).

    • Develop HMI screens and links, utilizing RND standard modules and custom programming where needed.

    • Develop safety programs for Banner/GuardLogix safety controllers/safety devices.

    • Develop custom vision applications utilizing Keyence Software and Cognex Spreadsheet for Cognex Cameras.

    • Develop robot applications primarily using Fanuc and Epson

    • Develop applications for miscellaneous devices that will be used on future projects.

  • System Design: Design and configure control systems, including I/O configuration, HMI integration, and communication protocols. Will also perform Risk Assessments and help design appropriately safe systems.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC programs, control systems, and field devices. Implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve system performance.

  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for control system designs, including pinning charts, code comments, and user manuals.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, project management, and assembly teams to understand system requirements and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Will utilize and maintain RND standards while also suggesting appropriate improvements.

  • Skills:

As an Electrical Designer at RND Automation, you will play a key role in the development and design of custom automation electrical systems for various packaging and robotic workcells. You will work closely with assemblers, electrical and mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs meet both functional and regulatory standards. Your work will contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality, efficient, and safe electrical systems.

To achieve this goal, the position is responsible for creating electrical enclosure designs and single-line electrical schematics, analyzing and correcting redline prints, troubleshooting and debugging electrical designs, and determining material and component specifications based on job requirements. This role involves adhering to RND standards for both process and component selection, as well as collaborating with the team to establish or modify these standards as necessary.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Create detailed electrical design drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor. Design enclosure layouts and determine cable lengths for all equipment on machine.

  • Technical Analysis: Perform load calculations, thermal calculations, and other technical evaluations to ensure system efficiency and compliance with codes and standards. Verify conformance of components to customer specifications
